Princeton, WV (WOAY) – After close losses on Tuesday & Wednesday, the Princeton Rays found themselves facing an early deficit Thursday to Pulaski, who has led the Appalachian League East Division for much of the season.
However, the Rays responded with two early home runs from Zach Rutherford and Justin Bridgman, while a four-run third inning helped set the tone for a 13-7 win.
Rutherford was the leading performer on offense for the Rays, batting 3-4 with four RBI.
With the Yankees losing, it provided the Bluefield Blue Jays to join them at the top of the East, but Kingsport avoided a sweep themselves winning 17-7 at Bowen Field.
The Blue Jays now head to Elizabethton for three games, while Princeton hosts the Mets this weekend.
