As school start dates get closer across the state, the West Virginia Emergency Management Division recommends that parents create a backpack emergency card for children to keep in their backpacks.
The card should include the child’s date of birth, two phone numbers, the name of their school and phone number, and any special medical needs, conditions or allergies.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends that parents also keep a copy of the card with them.
