Oscar Tshiebwe to Return for Sophomore Season

WOAY – WVU Athletics announced Sunday night that men’s basketball standout Oscar Tshiebwe will return for his sophomore season in 2020-21.

Earlier this month, Tshiebwe had submitted paperwork to request an evaluation ahead of the NBA Draft; Sunday was the deadline to formally declare for the draft.

Tshiebwe, originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, averaged 11.2 points and 9.3 rebounds this past season for the Mountaineers, starting all 31 games. He was a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team and was also named to the league’s Second Team.

West Virginia is scheduled to open the 2020-21 men’s basketball season November 10 against Fairleigh Dickinson.
