Operation Coalfield Justice nets six noncompliant sex offenders

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia State Police and United States Marshals have wrapped up a weeklong special operation in Kanawha County, targeting sex offenders who were not following federal guidelines for their release.

It’s called Operation Coalfield Justice. State Troopers checked in on 88 registered sex offenders and found that six were not complying with federal law.

There are now arrest warrants out for those six people.

Further, three of those offenders are in violation of both the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act and the Adam Walsh Act. Those three people are now under a federal investigation.

Non-compliance means that sex offenders are not complying with registration requirements for sex offenders, like notifying neighbors when they move.
