New owners at Bridge Haven make improvements, look to expand tourism

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – A Fayette County golf course is under new ownership and officially open to the public.

Bridge Haven is now owned by Josh Howell, Andy Kees, Aaron Kemlock, and Jason Wilkinson.

“It’s very exciting and something that we as a group have always wanted to do as far as owning a golf course, It’s something you talk about but you don’t think ever really going to happen, but here we are,” Howell said. “We hope to make some good changes for the members and for the tourists, and it’ll be good for everyone.”

They have spent significant time improving the course’s existing services, including improvements at the tee boxes.

“We’re also adding some additional tee boxes to lengthen the course a bit. We’re also going to improve the Greens, making them a little bit larger and more playable, just to make it overall a better experience for our members,” Kees said.

They offer a family membership and want to do more to make the course accessible for all.

“We’re really interested in getting the junior golfers and moms out here. We’re thinking about starting a women’s league,” Wilkinson said. “We cater to all the local high schools and the middle schools.”

One of the only golf courses within driving distance of the New River Gorge National Park, the new owners are looking to expand Bridge Haven’s presence in local tourism.

“We provide much-needed recreation in this area. There are so many tourists who have come to the area, and they’re looking for things other than whitewater,” Kemlock said. “We’ve been very fortunate to have a great impact or a significant impact from that.”

The course is open now, but there is an opening celebration scheduled for April 6.
