Neal Brown talks changes for football players, self-monitoring

MORGANTOWN, WV (WOAY) – With less than a month until WVU football’s scheduled season opener vs. Eastern Kentucky, the Mountaineers are continuing preseason camp, but will encounter several changes outside of practice.

Head coach Neal Brown said Wednesday that most players would be taking online classes for safety purposes. Brown is an advocate of in-person classes, and has encouraged players to be part of the campus community. However, he acknowledges that while the country is still dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, every possible precaution should be taken to ensure players’ safety.

Along those lines, he also mentioned how players are holding themselves accountable and avoiding large crowd gatherings. This comes as photos are posted from various campuses around the country that show large groups of people, prompting concerns that conferences who haven’t already postponed the fall college sports season may do so in the future. Brown says the veterans on the team have taken their responsibilities seriously
