Monarchs Snap Marshall’s Win Streak

Huntington, WV (WOAY, video courtesy WSAZ) – Marshall men’s basketball saw its win streak end at five games Thursday night, after losing to Old Dominion 84-79 in Huntington.

C.J. Burks and Jon Elmore led the Thundering Herd with 24 points each, with Elmore (24 points, 11 assists) and Ajdin Penava (14 points, 10 rebounds) both recording double-doubles. However, all five Monarch starters reached double figures, led by Brandan Stith’s 21 points and 12 rebounds. Marshall stays in Huntington Saturday to host Charlotte.

Thursday was also a tough night for the Thundering Herd women, who lost at Rice 87-44. Shayna Gore led Marshall with 13 points, while Talequia Hamilton and Taylor Pearson each recorded 11 points. Rice, who connected on 18 three-pointers, was led by 24 points from Nicole Iademarco. The Herd women visit North Texas Saturday.
