Fayette county resident Mike Harvey announced he will be running for Fayette County Commissioner in the next election.
Harvey is a local business owner in the town of Fayetteville and sees opportunity everywhere he looks.
“The fact you have national park now here, in Fayette county has a tremendous opportunity to become, again, that business destination.” Mike Harvey said.
Harvey sees Fayette county as a prime location for growth and hopes to be the driving force to make that happen
“You know, let’s leverage the fact we have this beautiful national park now and say, hey, you know, bring your tech start up to Fayette county bring your manufacturing setup to Fayette county, because, look what we have a here. A perfect balance of, you know, again, beauty, nature, resources and a willing and able workforce that’s willing to invest it’s use in a company. So I think as county commissioner, maybe I could be that catalyst to drive that change and bring those people together to have those discussions. ” said Harvey.
With things like the new river gorge in the heart of the county, Harvey is excited to bring business growth and development to the area
“The fact you have national park now here, in Fayette county has a tremendous opportunity to become, again, that business destination. When you look at a lot of the place in the country where we’ve seen a lot of growth happen, it’s been due to all the things we have here, natural resources, natural beauty, things are aesthetically pleasing and I desire to maintain that environmentally friendly area.” said Harvey.
For those who do not want to see the area change. Harvey says it is inevitable.
“The thing is, you know development is inevitable. How we manage that development is something we can absolutely manage.” said Harvey.
Harvey will be going around the county to reach out to communities and hear comments from the public
