Mercer County Humane Society fears overcrowding when shelter reopens

PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – This morning, Mercer County Humane Society transported over a dozen cats and dogs to a nearby no-kill animal rescue.

Director Stacey Harman says the animal transport has allowed them to free up space at the shelter but she is worried that the shelter will be overburdened once it’s reopened.

“When we open back up I do feel like we are going to be bombarded with the amount animals coming in do we do need to be prepared,” said Director Stacey Harman.
