PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – Mercer County Clerk Verlin Moye tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.
The County Clerk’s office will be closed until August 27th for quarantine purposes. There was on-site testing provided by the health department for all courthouse employees today as officials are hoping to keep the courthouse open going forward.
“We came to them so that they wouldn’t have to leave their jobs and come out to us,” said Mercer County Health Department Administrator Brenda Donithan. “We’re hoping that we don’t find anymore cases, but if we do, we’ll have to step up our case and keep a watch on them. Also, we’ll be contact tracing the ones that we have positive now.”
Donithan added that anyone who experiences even the slightest of systems will need to be tested and possibly quarantined.
