Lyons Hopeful WVU Football Can Play in 2020

WOAY (Shane Lyons interview courtesy WVU Athletics) – In a video conference earlier this week, West Virginia University athletic director Shane Lyons expressed his optimism that WVU football will be able to play their 2020 schedule as originally planned.

The Mountaineers had to cancel their spring game – which was scheduled for April 18 – Sunday night, as a result of the Big 12 Conference extending their suspension of all team competitions and practices through the end of May. Head coach Neal Brown said last week one of his priorities in recent weeks has been making sure players have remained healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak.

West Virginia is scheduled to open the football season September 5 against Florida State in Atlanta. Their home opener is September 12 against Eastern Kentucky.
