FDA announces a nationwide recall of eye ointments

Oak Hill, WV (CNN)- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a nationwide recall of eye ointment products.

According to the FDA, multiple brands from Brassica Pharma Private Limited sold at Walmart and CVS may not be sterile.

That could cause health problems because the medicine that goes through the eye avoids some of the human body’s natural defenses.

The products included in this recall are Equate lubricant eye ointment and CVS health lubricant eye ointment.

Brassica officials say they haven’t received any reports of injuries caused by these items.

Consumers are advised to return the ointments to the place of purchase.

More information is available on the FDA’s website.
