White Sulphur Springs unveils new tennis courts ahead of World TeamTennis season

A few hours before World TeamTennis kicked off its season at the Greenbrier Sunday, the City of Sulphur Springs celebrated the dedication of the Temp Gillespie Memorial Tennis Courts at nearby Villa Park.

The courts are named for Temp Gillespie, who helped build and maintain the original courts at the site. World TeamTennis offered assistance in refurbishing the complex in preparation for their 2020 season. They will be used as practice courts for professional players until August 2. Then, they will be open to the public.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by members of the Gillespie family, World TeamTennis CEO Carlos Silva and 2017 U.S. Open champion Sloane Stephens.
