Concord Men Win, Madison May Honored

WOAY – Concord men’s basketball has now won five straight after defeating Virginia Union 84-80 on Monday afternoon in Athens.

The Mountain Lions had success from beyond the three-point arc, with BJ Hamlet connecting on six attempts, while Virginia Union as a team made three. The Panthers rallied in the closing minutes but Concord was able to record the win thanks to 28 points each from Hamlet and Tommy Bolte. They’ll head to Akron on December 29th before resuming MEC play at Shepherd in January.

In women’s basketball, sophomore Madison was named the Mountain East Player of the Week. The PikeView alumna averaged better than 25 points in two games last week, including a double-double (30 points, 11 rebounds). The Lady Lions’ next game will come next month when they visit Shepherd.
