Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): High pressure will remain anchored across the Mid-Atlantic with early fog, then lots of sunshine through Thursday.
Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill’s latest forecast:
THIS WEEK THROUGH FRIDAY: Early fog will dissipate between 9-10 a.m. each morning with plentiful sunshine each afternoon through Thursday. Clouds will increase on Friday and then a low pressure pushing into the central Rockies early this week will stall out along the Florida Atlantic coast and become a subtropical storm (having characteristics of a low pressure and tropical storm).
FALL FOLIAGE UPDATE: The fall colors will continue to emerge across Pocahontas County and the eastern Greenbrier valley in the highest ridges separating West Virginia from Virginia this week.
WEEKEND FORECAST: The subtropical storm (will likely be named Ophelia) will then push northeast along the East Coast. The recipient weather locally will be a breezy weekend with intervals of light rain starting late Saturday and ending Sunday afternoon. Rain amounts will likely stay under 0.50 inch.
Significant beach erosion and coastal flooding are likely from the Carolinas to the Mid-Atlantic coast thanks to the easterly flow generated between the subtropical system and strong high pressure that will push east of the Mid-Atlantic late this week.
