West Virginia First Foundation Holds First Meeting

The first meeting of the board of the West Virginia First Foundation happened today… Beginning the process of distributing more than one billion dollars in funds from the state’s settlement with opioid companies.

According to Matt Harvey, the chairman of the foundation and Jefferson County prosecuting attorney, the meeting was just the first step in a long process, as the responsibility is handed over from the attorney general’s office to the foundation.

The West Virginia First Foundation is in charge of the distribution of more than one billion dollars from the state’s settlement with opioid companies. Woay’s viewing area is represented by Raleigh County Commissioner Greg Duckworth and Dr. Michael Toney Kelley.

Six board members were elected by local governments, and five members were named by Governor Jim Justice. Duckworth was named to the board by Justice while Dr. Kelley was elected.
