Secretary of State Mac Warner reminds business owners that 2024 annual reports can be filed starting January 1

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – With the new year coming in hot, Secretary of State Mac Warner reminds business owners that their 2024 annual report can be filed as soon as January 1.

Annual reports are required by law to ensure that businesses keep their registration with the state updated with the latest information on their current physical location, officers, and agents.

Secretary Warner urges all businesses to file as soon as possible to avoid statutory late fees applied after the June 30 deadline.

Users can file as guests if they do not want to create a user account.

Warner also warns business owners to be cautious of third-party providers soliciting annual report filing services.

According to Warner, the solicitors provide documents the secretary’s office has not reviewed, approved, or considered official government notices.

Warner urges owners to read the fine print in the solicitations, as some providers charge over 500% of the $25 fee.

Filing an annual report can be done online in minutes at business4.wv.gov.
