WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): There will be no shortage of warm weather through early Christmas week, but a pattern change ensures winter temperatures return.
SYNOPSIS: Mid and high-level clouds will shield the strongest of the sun’s rays through early next week, but a Pacific flow ensures temperatures will reach into the 50s each day. Expect rain Christmas afternoon into Wednesday, however, steady rain is only expected Monday afternoon and evening. The showers Tuesday and Wednesday will be far and few between.
LOOKING DOWN THE ROAD TO EARLY JANUARY: A developing Alaskan ridge will allow a more seasonable blast of air to arrive Thursday into New Year’s Day. A couple of flurries (snow showers with light accumulation in Pocahontas County) are expected Thursday and Friday with dry, but chilly weather for New Year’s Day. Early next year following New Year’s Day, a developing storm track will allow the west to get pummeled with rain and snow and southern West Virginia to see these storms two days later with a mix of rain and snow (January 4-9). This pattern does not allow for a significant snowfall (6 inches or more).
