First Degree Arson Charge

A Mount Carbon man is facing first-degree arson charges.

In a press release, Sheriff Mike Fridley said that deputies were alerted to a male who was taking items from a home at around 10:30 am on Sunday, (November 5th) morning.

The house, in Mount Carbon, was believed to belong to him. He was allegedly pulling items out of the home and setting them on fire in the yard. When police arrived on the scene they discovered Frederick Carter barricading himself inside the home.

Fire personnel took care of the fire, while the suspect was taken into custody without any incidents. Police say that Carter used to live at that residence and was angry that he was evicted.

Carter has been transported to Southern Regional Jail to await further court proceedings.
