Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): A cold front that will sweep from the Midwest to the Appalachians on Monday will likely trigger a few storms locally.
The same storm system will prompt severe weather in the Mid-Mississippi Valley this Sunday evening. As it pushes east, storms are expected locally on Monday.
The breakdown for Monday is below:
6 a.m. to Noon: A bit of sun early, then increasing clouds. Staying dry. Temperatures reaching the upper 70s.
Noon to 4 p.m.: A 40-percent chance for widely scattered thunderstorms I-64 and south (not everyone will see a thunderstorm). Wind gusts of 30-40 mph expected in thunderstorms. Isolated wind damage possible (we don’t expect a squall line feature that would bring upside risk to coverage of damaging wind gusts).
4 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Dry, then a 75-percent chance for a second round of widely scattered storms, best chance north of I-64, after 8 p.m. Wind gusts within storms will be 30-40 mph. Isolated to widely scattered wind damage likely (we don’t expect upside risk to coverage of damaging wind gusts).
9 p.m. to Midnight: Scattered thunderstorms ending by 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy with patchy fog.
Tuesday: The cold front will push through during the midday. A shower is likely in the morning followed by increasingly less humid conditions developing during the mid to late afternoon.
