Front Will Trigger Few Late-Day Showers/Thunderstorms

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): A Midwest cold front will fire off a round showers and thunderstorms tonight; only one or two storms will be gusty.

Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill’s Latest Forecast:

THROUGH TONIGHT: Only one or two storms are expected to produce very localized wind gusts that could initiate damage, but otherwise, no severe weather is expected. We are not expecting the same outcome from last week where Summers, Monroe and Greenbrier County got lashed with straight-line wind damage. Timing of the storms is between 8-10:30 p.m.

TUESDAY: The morning will be muggy with considerable cloud cover and then after Noon, clouds will break, a northwest breeze will develop and humidity levels will drop markedly.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY: Lots of sun with a big jump in afternoon highs from the middle 70s to low 80s. Morning temperatures will be pleasant with 50s. A rain shower could occur along a cold front late Thursday.

FRIDAY: Slightly cooler and less humid in the wake of Thursday night’s front. Dry weather is expected.

WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK: Dry under high pressure. It will turn hot by Monday as a developing Midwest dangerous heat wave spreads very warm temperatures into southern West Virginia.
