WVU medicine warns of uptick in respiratory illness

MORGANTOWN, WV (WOAY) – WVU Medicine is warning that it is seeing an increase in patients at its emergency rooms around the state due to an uptick in respiratory illnesses.

Those illnesses include COVID-19, the flu, and RSV.

Due to this surge, WVU Medicine asks that you go to local urgent care and see your primary care providers, instead of going to the emergency room.

It will take some of the pressure off of the emergency departments at hospitals. It is also cheaper and easier to be seen.

As cold and flu season begins, it’s important to take precautions to keep yourself and your loved ones healthy.

Be proactive about washing your hands, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. You should also stay home when you aren’t feeling well, if possible.
