WOAY – Two former West Virginia Mountaineers and one former Marshall kicker were among the players taken in the fifth round Saturday in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Kenny Robinson, a Mountaineer safety from 2017-18, was taken with the 152nd overall pick by the Carolina Panthers. Colton McKivitz, a four-year starter on WVU’s offensive line, went 153rd overall to the San Francisco 49ers.
In addition, Marshall kicker Justin Rohrwasser is headed to the New England Patriots with the 159th overall pick. Rohrwasser is the first specialist taken in the 2020 draft.
Robinson, originally from Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, was an All-Big 12 First Team selection in 2018, but entered the NCAA transfer portal in June 2019 following academic issues. He played in the XFL earlier this year with the St. Louis Battlehawks, starting all five games.
McKivitz, a native of Jacobsburg, Ohio, made 50 appearances for the Mountaineers from 2016-19, including 47 starts. He was the Big 12’s Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2019, and the Mountaineers’ lone All-Big 12 First Team selection. McKivitz earned All-America recognition from the Associated Press (Third Team) and the Walter Camp Foundation (Second Team).
Rohrwasser, from Clifton Park, New York, made 35 of 36 PAT attempts for the Thundering Herd in 2019 and 18 of 21 field goal attempts, including the walk-off game-winning attempt against Western Kentucky. He was named Conference USA’s Special Teams Player of the Year.

UPDATE (6:43 PM, April 25, 2020) – The Tennessee Titans have selected Marshall defensive back Chris Jackson with the 243rd overall pick (7th round).
Jackson, a native of Tallahassee, Florida, recorded 25 total tackles and one interception in 2019 for the Thundering Herd, and was one of the Herd’s eight players named to Conference USA’s First Team.
2020 marks the first year since 2003 that multiple Marshall players were taken in the same draft.
