WVDNR seeking wildlife art submissions for 40th Anniversary of West Virginia Wildlife Calendar

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) is calling all artists.

The division is seeking artists to submit their wildlife paintings for the 40th-anniversary edition of the West Virginia Wildlife Calendar.

The WVDNR chooses 12 paintings annually for its award-winning calendar and encourages all artists, especially those from Mountain State, to submit their art.

A $200 prize will be awarded to each artist whose painting is selected for the calendar, and the artist chosen for the cover will win an additional $500.

Art must be original color paintings on canvas or flat surfaces depicting native game and fish species or other wildlife found in West Virginia.

The division will accept paintings depicting hunting or fishing activities.

However, WVDNR will not consider photographs and paintings of wildlife not native to West Virginia.

Art should be at least 14.5 inches wide by 11.5 inches high to fit the horizontal calendar.

Artists who want to send art should mail a high-resolution copy to the following address:

Artists may send multiple paintings and resubmit artwork that WVDNR did not select in previous years.
