West Virginia fails report on premature baby rates

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia has gotten a failing grade on a report that evaluated pre-term births.

It joins seven other states- Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina.

Overall, the United States received a D plus. That score is barely a passing grade. No individual state received the grade of an A.

Premature birth is the leading cause of death for babies.
