Weather Update: More Smoky Skies, Brief Warmup and Then Rainy

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): Showers will end south of I-64 by 9:30 p.m., otherwise the remainder of the region will see dry weather and a gorgeous sunset.

Thursday: High pressure will ensure dry weather on Thursday. However, with enough cold air aloft, expect clouds to fill back in during the afternoon. Unfortunately, smoke from existing wildfires in Quebec will rotate around departing low pressure into our area Thursday afternoon. The smoke will not impact our air quality.

Thursday Night: Another low pressure wave will guarantee rain overnight, with rain ending by 8 a.m. Friday.

Weekend: A warm and dry weekend is likely with the warmest day of the week occurring on Father’s Day!

Early Next Week: Low pressure will slide into the Tennessee Valley and Carolinas and stall while high pressure pushes into the Northeast. The rex/omega block pattern will ensure occasional showers and chilly weather returns to southern West Virginia. It will also be breezy, rainy and chilly at the southern Mid-Atlantic to Carolina beaches.
