Two people are dead after a shooting in Shady Spring today.
The Raleigh County sheriff’s office, state police, Ghent fire department, and Jen Care ambulance responded after receiving a call for a reported shooting and an unresponsive person inside a car at around 10:40 this morning.
It happened on Flat Top Road in front of Shady Spring Elementary School. Police say they found the female driver dead inside a Jeep SUV dead. She suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Sheriff’s deputies and the State Police confronted a suspect at a residence shortly after. The suspect, a male, took his own life after law enforcement made contact.
Deputies say the shooting was a “domestic-related incident.”
