WEST VIRGINIA (WOAY) – You may have heard the phrase “America Moves by Truck,” and that’s still true, despite the coronavirus outbreak.
Truck driver William Abercrombie says he and other drivers are bust as ever as they try to keep up with shoppers raiding shelves at grocery stores. With many restaurants closed, it can be difficult for some truck drivers to find a place to eat, but that isn’t the only problem.
“The parking situation with places closing and states closing rest areas [is difficult,]” said Abercrombie. “Parking is tough all the time anyways, so if they start closing parking lots, that makes it even worse.”
Abercrombie says Most truck drivers are safe inside the truck when it comes to COVID-19, but delivery drivers such as those with FedEx and UPS are at a higher risk of catching the virus.
