Rainelle to hold free concert on September 2

The City of Rainelle is holding a free concert at town hall Sept. 2 starting at 7.

At the conclusion of the concert, a hat will be passed to collect donations for a memorial to the four people who died during the 2016 flood in Rainelle.

“Even through our hardship, we’ve all got a big heart and we care about each other,” Mayor Andrea “Andy” Pendleton said. “We’ve never been able to honor them. So we’ll be taking up donations for those four people.”

The memorial will cover a wall of a building downtown on Main Street. It will be similar to the Veteran’s Memorial Park that honors Rainelle veterans and their accomplishments.

“There’s an artist is going to be painting. We’ve already contacted her and she’ll be doing the work. It’s about raising money for it,” Pendleton said.

The first hour of the concert will feature Irish music, and the rest of the show will be performed by the Rick K Road Trip, who perform 70’s music.

The local Little league will be selling concessions at the event.

The concert is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
