Public Service Commission approves Mountaineer Gas rate increase

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Mountaineer Gas customers will see a rate increase in 2024.

On Wednesday, state regulators approved Mountaineer Gas Company’s proposal to invest $67 million in construction upgrades and improvements in 2024. 

The Public Service Commission’s (PSC) approval allows Mountaineer Gas to raise rates by $9.6 million, or slightly less than requested in the July 31 filing.

The new rates are effective January 1, 2024.

The average monthly user will see a 1.96% rate increase or $1.93 more monthly.  

Commercial users will pay $5.26 more per month. 

The agreement was negotiated between the company, the commission legal staff, and the Consumer Advocate Division of the PSC.
