NRGDA receives grant money to clean brownfield sites

The New River Gorge Regional Development Authority will receive federal grant money to help restore brownfield sites in the Beckley area.

The Environmental Protection Agency is giving the N-R-G-D-A half a million dollars to reclaim those brownfield sites, allowing them to be put to productive use.

“The funding announced today will assist West Virginia businesses in adopting cost-effective pollution reduction strategies, improving their energy efficiency and reducing waste, as well as remediate brownfields sites in the Beckley area for productive use,” Senator Joe Manchin said. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to deliver meaningful investments for the Mountain State, and I will continue advocating for resources that enhance the health and well-being of our communities.”

The money comes from a larger grant of 1.3 million dollars to improve public health in West Virginia.

West Virginia University also receives eight hundred thousand dollars to assist businesses develop cost-effective pollution reduction strategies.
