New details in murder investigation in Mercer County

New details are emerging about a murder investigation in Mercer County.

Last night, West Virginia state police responded to calls about a man holding several people at gunpoint at 261 Ceres Hollow Road in Bluefield, West Virginia.

When troopers arrived, they found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds to the head and the body. Those two were transported to the hospital and remain in critical condition.

They then entered the home and found a dead 11-year-old girl and a dead man, who was identified as Kenneth Smith.

Investigators have determined that Smith was the shooter, and he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
