WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): A cold front on the way promises to bring temperatures back down to seasonable levels.
OVERVIEW: A cold front will bring temperatures down to seasonable levels Friday through next week. Within the pattern expect a few rain and snow showers Friday evening that will be followed by flurries early Saturday. A few patches of freezing drizzle could create a few ice patches on car windshields. Elevations above 2,500 feet can expect accumulation (see video below).
Another front promises to bring flurries late Monday into Tuesday with a coating of snow above 3,000 feet. If there are any school delays, they would be confined to Pocahontas county. A southern-tracking storm will follow Thursday with rain changing to snow and potential for light accumulation (less than 3″) of snow.
JANUARY OVERVIEW: We expect the coldest temperatures of the month and most snowfall to occur within the first and last week of the month. However, total January snowfall will trend below-average for the region (see forecast totals below) and temperatures will likely trend above average. We don’t expect any record-breaking warmth, but instead warmth driven by a mild Pacific flow pattern.
