MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The McDowell County community is coming together to support Keystone as it receives good news for the future of its water system.
The past couple of months have seen other issues, such as the Gary water situation and the tearing down of buildings in Kimball, draw attention from other areas. McDowell County officials are confident that with news of a grant for Keystone’s water system, as well as the presence of a rotary company, there is positive momentum going forward.
“I’m hoping post the election when people aren’t running for office, they’ll still drive to McDowell County,” said Kimball Chief of Police S.P. “Pat” McKinney. “They’ll still help McDowell County. And I’m hoping that through things like the McDowell County Mayor’s Association, they can come together as a group and seek help. I think if we apply for everything we can, but only get 10% of what we applied for, we’ll be doing better than what we’ve been doing.”
McKinney feels that it’s important how all of McDowell County works together when different areas are applying for grants and assistance with projects.
