House fires claim four lives in West Virginia

Four house fires killed five people across West Virginia last week, according to numbers released by the state fire marshal.

Fires claimed the lives of a man in Grant County, a man and a woman in Braxton County, a man in Waynes County, and a man in Logan County.

The fire marshal is urging West Virginians to be careful this winter.

Christmas trees can be extremely flammable, but other decorations can also be dangerous. It is important to make sure your lights are rated for indoor or outdoor use and immediately replace damaged lights.

You should also be careful with lit candles and potential fire hazards around stoves during holiday cooking.
