Greenbrier County Sheriff’s office reports scams

GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s office has reported an uptick in scam calls in the past few days.

The sheriff’s office said that several people have said that scammers have called them, pretending to be sheriff’s deputies.

The scammers will claim that the intended victim owes the sheriff’s office money. If you don’t pay, the scammers will falsely claim that there is a warrant out for your arrest.

The sheriff’s office will never ask you for money over the phone to avoid arrest. If you get one of these calls, hang up the phone and don’t give away any information.
