Concord Splits UC Doubleheader

WOAY – Concord basketball began a stretch of conference games Wednesday by splitting a road doubleheader at the University of Charleston.

The Lady Lions & Lady Eagles traded the lead multiple times in the opening quarter, but UC went on to win 78-63, with Concord still looking for a first conference win of the season. Madison May led the Lady Lions with 16 points, while Heather Chapman recorded 10 points.

The men’s teams also played a close contest early, with the Golden Eagles pulling ahead midway through the second half, but the Mountain Lions rallied to win 77-72 to move to 2-1 in MEC play. Tommy Bolte, in his first game back from injury, led Concord with 23 points, while BJ Hamlet added 16. Concord returns to Athens Saturday for a doubleheader with West Virginia State.

Also in college basketball, Marshall’s men’s team was involved in a high-scoring game at William & Mary, but the Tribe would win 114-104. In addition, WVU Tech swept a doubleheader at Carlow; the Golden Bears visit Point Park this weekend.
