Columbus fiber break leads to internet slowdown in West Virginia schools

Portions of the state have experienced significant internet slowdowns today due to a major outage in Columbus, Ohio.

Two providers, OARnet and Zayo, reported that a break in its fiber network took out four 10 Gbps circuits.

The problem began yesterday at roughly 3 p.m., and as of noon today, technicians from the affected companies are making repairs.

There is no time frame for when the repairs will be finished.
