Senator Capito announces more than $2 million in CDS funding for West Virginia higher education centers

Washington, DC (WOAY) – Senator Shelley Moore Capito announces $2,028,724  from the U.S. Department of Education for West Virginia Higher Education Centers. 

Capito secured the funding by submitting congressionally directed spending requests on behalf of West Virginia through the Fiscal Year 2023 funding bill. 

 Awards granted from the requests include $433,000 for the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission to support open education resource projects, $595,724 for WVU Parkersburg to establish a worker upskilling program, and $1,000,000 for Marshall University’s cybersecurity research and education efforts.  

Capito states she is looking forward to seeing how all these funds and programs will help students flourish and set them up for a career of success.
