Canyon Rim Visitor Center to close on January 1 for renovations

The New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is about to see major changes.

The Canyon Rim Visitor Center at the New River Gorge will close on January 1, 2024 to allow renovations on the main building.

The plan is to upgrade the park’s busiest visitor contact station to include new exhibits, another sales area, carpets, lighting, wall coverings, and new seating!

This is huge for the park since the last major upgrade was when it originally opened to the public on May 23rd, 1991; that was 32 years ago.

As of now, the goal is to reopen by early March.
