Giving back to the community is what the Rotary Club is all about.
With the holidays upon us, making sure our kids are taken care of is more important than ever.
The Canyon Rim Rotary Club coat drive is part of a larger community effort to pull off the annual Fayette County Christmas Toy Fund for the children in our area.
“We collect toys, but there is a great need for coats — and warm hats, mittens, scarves,” said rotary member Kim Feazell.
“Up through December the 11th we are collecting coats, primarily for youth but we are accepting any sizes. The drop-off location is the Fayetteville United Bank.”
We always want to help kids and at this time of year when things can be especially tough, the Canyon Rim Rotary Club is doing just that.
This event is being brought together by multiple community organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, Fayetteville United Bank and the Rotary Club are glad to partner for such a great cause.
“Proud to be a part of being able to make a difference in the community. So many people just struggling to make ends meet, to pay the bills, trying to survive,” Feazell said. “With Rotary that’s our mission — is to really help out in the community, give back to the community, help out the families that are in need this time of year.”
Kim says she is really looking forward to putting smiles on children’s faces.
“Whether it’s with toys, whether it’s with warm coats, whether it’s with books to help out with early literacy; it’s just so important to give back to our community,” she said.

The 2023 Fayette County Christmas Toy Fund is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Lewis Christian Community Center in Oak Hill from 9am-12pm.
According to the CRRC, donations of new (unwrapped) toys or monetary donations to purchase toys are needed. Monetary donations can be made to the Fayette County Rotary Foundation with ‘Christmas Toy Fund’ in the memo line. $30 is the average cost to provide toys for one child.
