Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): Our region (above 2,000 feet) will become a winter wonderland Wednesday morning.
TONIGHT: Occasional spits of rain will change to light snow between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Snow will come in brief spurts and end by 8 a.m. Only secondary roads above 2,000 feet will see a coating of accumulation. Main thoroughfares such as Route 19 and I-64 will stay wet. Expect slippery conditions along the shoulder of I-64 near Sandstone Mountain.
SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION: See map for regional accumulations expected. The accumulation amounts will be TOTALLY elevation dependent. So, places like Tazewell, Prince and Thurmond will only see a few patches of snow. Meanwhile, the ridges around Rainelle and Richwood and the top of Sandstone Mountain will end up with 2 inches. Snowshoe will cash in on 4 inches of accumulation.
WEDNESDAY: Roads at and below 2,500 feet will be wet in the morning and then dry out. Above 3,000 feet, roads will still be a little dicey. The sun may make two appearances and temperatures will stay in the 30s.
THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY: Ready for spring? Temperatures will warm well into the 50s and a dry, breezy, warm pattern will bring an elevated brush fire risk on Friday.
SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY: The breeze will increase Saturday afternoon. An inch of rain is expected Sunday and then a blustery day is expected Monday before temperatures moderate on Tuesday.
