BECKLEY, WV (WOAY)- If you want to go ice skating, you don’t need to go to Charleston for it because the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine has an ice-skating rink from now until December 3rd. They have all the festive cheer of the season with a light display, ice skating, hot drinks to warm up with, and of course, the coal mine exhibit.
Even though there’s no snow on the ground, everyone here is having some wintery fun.

Locals explain why they have come out and why Christmas is their favorite time of year.
“My ma-mom is in town, and she doesn’t really get to see much ice-skating stuff, so just making fun Christmas memories,” said Olivia McCracken.
“Cause we get to celebrate Jesus and celebrate Christmas with our families,” said Emmy. “And all of my family comes in, and some seasons only half come in,” added Francie.
Even one has advice for those who’ve never done it before.
“Don’t be afraid to mess up, because meesing up is all the fun of it,” expressed McCracken.
