Beckley city leaders plan #WearAMask campaign event

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The City of Beckley and WVU Tech are collaborating with the Beckley Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce in support of the #WearAMask campaign.

Launched in May by the Chamber and Dr. Ayne Amjad, the initiative encourages people in the region to take personal responsibility in their efforts to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“We all want to get back to life as we once knew it. The only way that we are going to be able to do that is if we wear these face covering,” said Beckley Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce President Michelle Rotellini. “We have to slow the spread, and we have to protect one and other. So this is a part of a campaign that Dr. Ayne Amjad started in early May. May 7th, she reached out to the chamber and said I think we need to have a campaign for Raleigh County and the surrounding areas to encourage people to wear masks.”

The press event will take place at Word Park in Downtown Beckley tomorrow at 3 pm.
