Beckley Chili Night Turns Out to Be Successful

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): The weather was right on cue for a popular reoccurring early October event in Beckley that brought out folks with a hungry stomach.

Temperatures were in the 40s and 50s for the chili cook off in Berkeley, West Virginia. We are going to check out the flavor that we are trying.

How about some pumpkin chicken chili? How about escaping into a warm climate with some pineapple in your chili? A Hawaiian type chili.

Some vendors were even in it to win it. There was a chili cook off taste testing contest. Yours truly and Brandi Lawrence were two of the several judges that by the end of the night, a couple of folks walked out here with a trophy.

Even our weather radio partner, WTNJ was at the festival featuring their award-winning chili. They have been coming to this festival for more than 20 years.

The 32nd annual chili night in Beckley was a success. The ticket line was pretty long, and for five tickets, you could sample five different types of chili for them. Big tally. A little bit spicy. A little bit spicy.

The cold weather didn’t stop this crowd. If chili is not your thing, they even had activities for the kids and those young at heart.
