Oak Hill, WV (WOAY-TV): High pressure will ensure the sky clears late tonight into early Thursday while another front is right on the doorstep by daybreak on Friday. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Hilary will produce big water problems in the West.

Just as Hillary is expected to produce copious amounts of rain across the West. Let’s take a look at the highest rainfall totals from a tropical system in each state. Hurricane Agnes produced 7.94 inches of rain in West Virginia from Agnes in 1972. Kathleen produced the most rain in California in 1976 with 14.76 inches. Doreen produced the most rain in Nevada with 4.14 inches back in 1977.
Now, the tracks of these East Pacific storms compares very well to Hillary’s expected outcome. Both storms tracked parallel out of the Baja California and either stayed offshore the coast, California, or actually tracked into the Great Basin. Flash flooding and mudslides are expected and moderate drought will be erased. MLB games in California will likely be postponed on Monday.
