Wyoming County Schools Closed Friday Ahead Of Teacher Walk-Out

WYOMING COUNTY (WOAY) – Teachers across Wyoming County plan to walk out on Friday, February 2, 2018.

The teachers voted to walk out because of teacher pay and insurance premiums going up.  WOAY talked to Superintendent Deirdre Cline with Wyoming County Schools who confirmed that the schools would be closed countywide Friday.

Cline says that according to WV code 18-4-45E, if a number of employees plan on not being in class and there are not enough employees for so many students, then she can shut down the schools.

This day will have to be made up either on spring break or at the end of the year.  The employees will get to vote to decide on which day they prefer to make it up.
