Wyoming County Man Arrested For Strangling A Woman And Sexually Assaulting Her

HANOVER, WV (WOAY) – A Wyoming County man is in jail for abduction, concealing a child, sexual assault and strangulation.

Deputies were called to a home in the Hanover area of Wyoming County for a domestic situation.  The victim told deputies that she was at home with her 14-year-old autistic son when Anthony Woolum Jr. approached them.

Woolum grabbed the phone and told her, if she tried to call the cops, he would kill her.  The victim felt trapped and scared. She couldn’t run to find help because of her special needs son that can’t run.  The victim’s sister later showed up and advised the victim not to tell her anything or he would kill them both.

Later on in the night, Woolum asked the victim to have sex and she said, no.  At around 3:30 in the morning she woke up with Anthony touching and licking her private areas.  She jumped up and told him to stop.  Woolum then wrapped both of his arms around her neck standing behind her choking her.  He told her he was going to kill her and she passed out.

Two days later they went to the store, she ran in before Woolum and asked the clerk to call the cops, the clerk told her to take her son and hide in the back of the store.

Woolum is charged with abduction, 2nd-degree sexual assault, and strangulation. He is currently in the Southern Regional Jail under no bond.
