WVU Tech Women Rally in Season Opener

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – In their first game under new head coach Anna Kowalska, WVU Tech women’s basketball rallied from a halftime deficit to win 48-44 over Bluefield College Tuesday in Beckley.

The Lady Rams led 25-23 at halftime, and were extend that lead to 35-31 after the third quarter. In the fourth, the Lady Golden Bears outscored the visitors 17-9, with the deciding points coming from late free throws in the final minute.

Savannah Shamblin led all scorers with 17 points, while Brittney Justice came close to a double-double for WVU Tech with 13 points and nine rebounds. Courtney Kendrick led Bluefield with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

WVU Tech visits University of the Cumberlands on Thursday, while Bluefield College will play two games in Pikeville, Kentucky this weekend.
