WVU medical students to receive white coats

Morgantown, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia University School of Medicine will hold its White Coat Ceremony on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1 p.m.

More than 100 second-year medical students will make the transition from textbook sciences to clinical care. The ceremony marks the start of teaching student doctors the importance of the doctor-patient relationship and the relevance of the white coat as a cloak of compassion.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Jeffery Cannon, a WVU School of Medicine Class of 2019 graduate.

The ceremony is named for former associate dean for student and curricular affairs Dr. Traubert, who practiced family medicine in Wellsburg before joining the University as founding chair of the Department of Family Practice, now the Department of Family Medicine.

The ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Erickson Alumni Center, 1 Alumni Drive.
